This property has frequent tidal flooding. Based on that, normal capped composite would not be a good choice. Even with the more expensive Wolf PVC decking, we wanted to be certain that the owner would be thrilled with the end result with no reason for call-backs.
All existing pressure treated framing was replaced with ground contact pressure treated framing. Again, you will see the built-in control joint system giving the deck a paneled appearance. Solid PVC decking was used as it is impervious to water.
White PVC trim and piling caps finished the job off nicely.
Here, brick steps and porch were removed and an expansive deck with a raised seam metal roof were installed to transform the front of the house. The deck features Wolf PVC decking and reinforced white vinyl rails. To tie the porch roof in with the house, two dormer roofs as well as a pent roof at the garage were capped with raised seam metal roofing. We are really proud of how this project turned out!
This was a typical siding job that started with rotted wood due to improper building techniques. Structure insulated siding was installed, manufactured by Mastic. A new shower was built using maintenance free Azek panels and trim. One thing you don't see is that on every window and door opening, we flashed the window with a first layer of tape, installed breathable house wrap as the second layer, and then re-flashed the same openings with a very strong vinyl flashing tape. This extra step, along with the new siding, ensures no leaks.
In addition, a new sliding glass door manufactured by Vi-Winco was installed. The foundation was painted to tie in with the siding after after our photos were taken. The finished job looks fantastic!
A new deck and rails out front and in the rear using low maintenance vinyl and PVC help this homeowner more easily handle the maintenance required for a house at the beach.
The existing shower was enlarged for a more spacious shower area, lined with Azek panels on the inside, and siding was installed on the exterior . Not only do the Azek panels ensure a water tight system, their brightness really makes the shower area more inviting.
These clients have been with us for years and live quite a distance from their beach home. Aside from repairing wood siding and painting the exterior of the house, they had us renovate two full bathrooms. One has a new wall system above the tub and floor and the other has a fiberglass shower with ceramic tile accents. A new sloped floor with drain and tile was added. Lighting and fan changes were done as well as painting.
The finishing touch is the frame-less glass shower door, as it lets you see the beautiful tile work.
Another deck replacement with Wolf Capped Composite decking boards, white vinyl railings and pavers to a new outdoor shower.
This deck expanded the living space upstairs and was framed 12" on center to allow for Wolf Composite decking with white trim. This project used the only type of wire railing we will install.
Notice the railing cables are vertical which eliminates the temptation for a child to climb them. These railings are available in multiple colors to work with any exterior.
New Andersen double hung series 400 windows were installed on this vintage house right in the heart of Bethany. With the siding being asbestos, we replaced the opened areas with James Hardi siding panels in a matching size and texture. Our normal flashing techniques were used.
All of the exterior trim was hand crafted on site using redwood, as the owner wanted to preserve her dad's love of the species and match other trim on the house.
This 25-year old Victorian-style house needed a facelift due to failures of siding and an aging roof. When the old siding was removed, we found that no window flashing was used during the original construction, allowing for tremendous heat loss. Using a (3) three step flashing system and insulated Structured Mastic Siding with composite trim, the R-value of the house was improved by close to 20% resulting in much lower utility bills.
Low profile Architectural roof shingles were used as they are less prone to blow off in a Nor'easter than the typical high profile type. Two original bathroom skylights were replaced and (2) Velux Flexible Sun Tunnels were installed, one in another bathroom and the other in a stairway.
Raised seam metal roofing was used on the bay window, turret and a small first-story roof on the side of the house, as well as on a new pent roof across the front of the house to tie things together and improve sight lines.
To control dropping needles from the many pine trees surrounding the house, 6" gutter with Leaf Filter gutter guard, made of 316 galvanized stainless steel micro fiber mesh, was installed.
New out-swing Andersen French-wood doors were used down stairs and an Andersen series 400 French-wood Slider was installed upstairs.
Replacement of pressure treated wood decking with solid PVC decking supplied by Wolf Manufacturing. Stainless steel screws were concealed with matching composite plugs. New reinforced vinyl railings and lattice work were added to keep animals from getting under the deck.
316 ga. stainless screws are required in coastal areas, as anything lower will rust - more costly, but it is a one-time installation.
